Sherrard Middle School students saw science and technology come alive Thursday thanks to the Oilfield Energy Center’s Mobile Oilfield Learning Unit (MOLU).
The MOLU is a traveling exhibit that features 24 hands-on activities about energy and the technologies and sciences involved with the oil and gas industry. Several of the MOLU displays also showed the students how oil and gas are a part of the products they use every day. Each lesson is based on the Next Generation National Science Standards.
Every student was equipped with a “MOLU Pass” that included questions to answer while rotating among the six curriculum-based stations. Following the exhibit visit, students and teachers reviewed the answers to the “MOLU Pass” back in their classroom.
The MOLU made stops at several local schools this week including Cameron Elementary School on Monday. The MOLU visits were made possible through the sponsorships of Southwestern Energy, Williams, Cabot, Schlumberger and Shell.
