Sherrard Rams Headed Back to WV History Bowl Championships

Sherrard Middle School will once again represent the northern panhandle at the West Virginia History Bowl Championships in Charleston this April. The Rams competed against 10 other schools at the annual Region VI WV History Bowl held at Independence Hall in Wheeling on Friday.

In the finals, Sherrard Team 1 defeated Sherrard Team 2. The championship winning team from Sherrard Middle School includes Ella Finley, Allison McGraw, Sarah Naome and Zoe Zervos. Ryan Himrod, Jacob Kale, Megan Robinson and Hayden Ward make up Sherrard Middle School Team 2. Both squads are coached by Dan Gatts and Jeff Stephens.

Sherrard Middle School Team 1 and Team 2 will face off against the other top schools from around West Virginia at this year’s state tournament on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in The Culture Center at the Capitol Complex in Charleston.

The WV History Bowl started in 2010 with 16 teams in the entire state. Since then participation has increased to more than 500 students from 8 different regions in West Virginia.
